I've been doing email marketing for the last 10, 15 years now and I'm not sure where we're at. I think we're at an inflection point where things are going to change. I'm getting asked how can I use AI to write better emails, write more customized emails, that type of thing.

But then also in my inbox I have the AI filtering: what does the AI think is the stuff I ought to be paying attention to? So I think we're rapidly getting into a situation where we're going to have AI talking to AI over email. And I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. And I think there's opportunity there.

We may have to adjust how we're writing our emails. One for teaching the recipient AI: here's some interesting things that may need to be considered for your human's interest. Raise it to your human's interest.

But then also on the converse side, this inundation of email that we're going to get, because email is going to get cheaper and cheaper. Right now a good email message may take several hours to compose, to write, to edit, to go through proofing and that type of stuff. So there's a day's worth of work, a half day's worth of work. That's just going to go to five minutes, because a lot of the mechanicals will be done for us.

And so I think that we're going to see more email. It might get more interesting. It's more topical. It's more relevant because we're able to, as marketers, customize the messaging. But then once it lands in our inbox, we're going to have these AIs that are going to filter and sort and stuff like that.

And what's that interaction? What's that intersection with me as a recipient? What's interesting to me? Having the tools that learn what I'm interested in.

Right now those tools are inbox only. But if you can make them a little bit smarter so they can see into not just your inbox but your other work, you can see that something is coming in and is topical, relevant to some work that you're doing. Say: hey, you got this email that's coming from a potential vendor or something like that that could solve a pain problem. And that I think could be powerful as well.

I just haven't seen it yet. I think that's coming. I think that might be a useful goal where we get more push of communications. But yeah, the paying attention to when it's useful, I just don't know what it means yet. I've been thinking on it. I just don't have an answer yet.

Answer this one too.

You don't need to be an expert. You need something you tried at work with AI, what happened next and what you'd tell someone else.
