What should you hand over to AI?

Key points

  • "Sometimes we will even find out on the 75th page that, oh my God, this is not something that is related to the work I was looking forward to."
  • "In one passage, which is few minutes of read, you will understand what is there in the document."
  • "I personally use this pretty much on a daily basis."

So the second point is summarizing of a document. By that, what I mean is, let's say we have certain technical documents stored in our SharePoint or given to us to understand some work that has already been done. And then I, as a developer, I'm supposed to take it forward.

So there is a feature under Microsoft Copilot wherein if you open a Word document or an Excel document, they ask you: can I create a summary of this document? So summarizing that particular small paragraph gives us all the details of what we require, what is the document about, what has happened, how it has happened, everything in a short way so that you are well prepared about whatever that 80 pages document or 100 pages document was talking to you about in one passage. So you are up to speed in a quick short time.

Before this capability, if we were given 80 pages of release notes, we had to literally spend hours understanding it. Sometimes we will even find out on the 75th page that, oh my God, this is not something that is related to the work I was looking forward to.

But with this capability, all you have to do is click on that feature. You will get a summary of the document. In one passage, which is few minutes of read, you will understand what is there in the document. Is that document even relevant for me for the task that I'm taking up? And if it is relevant, the what, why and how. So you are already up to speed. And from there, you can hold the rope and move forward.

That is about the second capability. I personally use this pretty much on a daily basis. Summarizing documents to understand what work has happened and from where I am supposed to take it forward and move forth.

Answer this one too.

You don't need to be an expert. You need something you tried at work with AI, what happened next and what you'd tell someone else.
